My Little Frugalite!!

Here's evidence that little eyes are watching you! Abby said that she was reading her "Bible" to her bunny. While she did pick a good book to read, I probably should show her which book is really the Bible!

Ahh the smell of coffee...filters?

I had an "a-ha moment" the other day, and then felt kinda dumb after I had it. You know what I mean? It was all about coffee filters. Now, I have known for years that coffee filters could be used for MANY things besides making coffee. For example- cleaning windows, covering food in the microwave, serving snacks for kids, really just about anything that you would use a napkin or paper towel for. Okay, I knew this, so why wasn't I doing it? I had this thinking in my head "I don't want to waste my coffee filters- they're for making coffee!" Well, the other day I got to thinking (mark it down here- October 13, I was thinking!) coffee filters are HALF the price of paper napkins! So, everytime I give my kids a snack on a napkin instead of a coffee filter, it costs me twice as much! I am now an instant convert to using coffee filters over napkins and paper towels whenever possible. I still use them all frugally and more than once if I can, but I feel much better about it now! My Frugal Favorite Things #3

I LOVE kitchen gadgets! I love getting them for gifts and finding them at yard sales! But it has to be something that I will REALLY use. Something that will make my job just a little bit easier and not take up too much space in my kitchen. I've been burned on lots of useless items, but one gadget that I absoultely love, and is my absolute favorite, is my KitchenAid Kitchen Shears. I love these things! They are basically just a pair of super-sized scissors. They are really sharp, with big handles and a plastic cover that goes over the end, which I like, having small busy hands around my house! I think the best thing about these is that they are great for cutting up food for small kids. It is so easy to cut off little bites of pizza without tearing off all of the toppings! They are great for opening bags of food while cooking, and cutting up smaller veggies (green onions are so easy now!) So, here's my free plug for KitchenAid, and also for Target, which is where I got these for around $7.99. Not too expensive, but they will last a long time.
